ALTO's annual Italians in Sport Dinner

Caterina’s Cucina E Bar was absolutely buzzing at our Italians in Sport Annual Dinner on 19 September 2019. With the evening hosted by the one and only Michael Zappone, it was an entertaining and interesting night for the 80 plus guests that came along.

Guests were spoilt with an amazing selection of food and wine provided by some of ALTO’s best sponsors, Twelve BottlesFloridia Cheese and Bertocchi. We heard interviews with Alessandro Diamanti, Italiano professional footballer for Western United as well as Tom Petroro being one of the most prominent AFL player managers. Both panellists provided good insight into both the soccer and AFL world, with Tom Petroro teasing guests with some stories that have occurred with his represented players as well as sharing the non glamorous side AFL players also go through and how all aspects of a players life needs to be managed with professionalism. Our very own ALTO committee member David La Greca also interviewed Michael Zappone which allowed guests insight into his diverse career.

The evening also featured the much loved live auction featuring one off sports memorabilia.  Some of the big ticket items included a Valentino Rossi signed helmet, a Cannavaro signed jumper as well as  AFL memorabilia  for various teams. With over 10 items sold ALTO was able to raise funds for a nominated charity.

A huge thankyou to all our guest for attending our favourite event of the year and of course to the team at Caterina’s Cucina E Bar for providing what all our guests love most, a delicious Italian feast. We can’t wait for this event again next year and hope to see you all for another night filled with good food and even better company.
